Omaha and Seven-card stud are two poker variations that are constantly growing in popularity. Sure holdem is still by far the most popular poker form, but more and more players are starting to diversify their poker game.
Omaha used to be called Omaha holdem and is in many ways very similar to Texas holdem. The difference is that you get four hole cards instead of two and have to use two of them. It might seem like a small change, but it changes the game quite a bit. While holdem can be said to be about bluffing and betting when you have the best hand - Omaha is a drawing game.
In Omaha you will often be putting a lot of money in the pot without a made hand. But when you are drawing, always be sure to be drawing to the nuts. Omaha is also played in a hi-lo version, where the pot is split between the best high hand and the best qualified low hand (if there is one).
Seven card stud is not a community card game, as Omaha and holdem. Each player gets a total of seven cards. First two face down and one face up, followed by a betting round. Then three cards are dealt face up, with a betting round between each card. This is followed by a last card that is dealt face down and a final betting round. The winner is the player with the best five card poker hand. Seven card stud is also played in a hi-lo version and a low version (called Razz).
